of vineyards D.O.C. and I.G.T.

There are about five thousand hectoliters of wine produced every year in Poderi di San Pietro, using only the grapes – quality assurance – grown in vineyards that stretch of about 60 hectares in the territories of San Colombano and the neighboring municipalities of Graffignana and Miradolo Terme

All vineyards are included in the wine region of “San Colombano” D.O.C. and I.G.T. “Collina del Milanese” (Hills of Milan), in which are grown:

– The red grapes Croatina, Barbera, Uva rara, Merlot, Cabernet and Pinot Noir;

– The white varieties Chardonnay, Trebbiano, Cortese, Malvasia and Pinot Grigio.

Our cutting-edge technologies

Steel tanks and oak barriques

For storing and refining are available 70 tanks of thermo-controlled steel. For the finest wines – the reserves, but also the “Rosso di Valbissera”- the aging is provided by French oak barrels and lasts from six months to two years. The local for the refinement is situated in an underground facility, to facilitate the control of temperature and humidity. Usually it hosts around 120 barrels.

A scanner for wine

The company relies on the best technology to offer a high quality product and an excellent balance between quality and price. For that reason during the production our winemakers work daily with the “Wine Scan” support, a chemical analysis instrument that using a small sample of wine allows to obtain important data, useful to our oenologist to fully evaluate the quality of the product. The risk of oxidation of the wine is avoided through the use of a nitrogen generator that allows to saturate the steel tanks, creating an internal oxygen-free environment.

An automated line

Once a product of excellence is obtained, the latter must be respected during the bottling phase, which takes place on site, through a totally automated line capable of ensuring a production up to four thousand bottles for hour. This operation completes the Wine of Milan, that is ready for commercialization.
